Anne Hathaway Embraced Old Hollywood Style in a Plunging Black Beaded Gown

The side cutouts, however, couldn't be more of-the-moment.

Anne Hathaway officially returned to her original style roots. After undergoing a fashion renaissance of sorts over the past year (croc-embossed LBDs, hooded gowns), the actress went back to basics with her latest red carpet look.

Confirming that the classics are always a good idea, Hathaway attended the National Board of Review Gala in New York City on Thursday, dressed in a black beaded Giorgio Armani gown. From the sequin floral appliqués to the deep sweetheart neckline, the entire dress exuded Old Hollywood glamour — however, one detail in particular brought it into the 21st century. On each side the gown were a set of cutouts that accentuated her waist.

Hathaway accessorized with black patent leather pumps and Bulgari jewels — including a pair of dangling pear-shaped diamond earrings, a serpentine bracelet that wrapped around her wrist, and a collection of diamond-and-emerald rings. Her dark brunette hair was worn down in bombshell waves with a middle part, while her soft glam consisted of a pink lip, flushed cheeks, and dewy skin.

Upon her arrival at the event, Anne, who served as a presenter, was joined by her husband Adam Shulman for a rare date night. Though they walked the red carpet separately, the two were photographed outside the venue together, with Anne covered up in an oversized blazer that was effortlessly draped off her shoulders and Adam wearing a black suit with a matching skinny tie.
