After the year we've had, there's only one place we can go from here: up. That's right, InStyle's annual Golden Globes elevator is going up once again for a 6th year in a row with entrances from your favorite celebrities — we just gave it a bit of a makeover.

This year, our famous Golden Globes elevator will be completely digitally rendered, so celebs can film their mischievous moments in the safety of their homes. We've partnered with NYC-based Broadway and television scenic designer Derek McLane to create this fabulous, Art Deco-inspired virtual elevator. His final, Gatsby-esque design is rendered in silver and gold metallics, and it harkens back to a time when there was a lot more opulence and a lot less, well, virtual awards shows.

McLane is a Tony and Emmy award-winning scenic designer, known for his motif work on the sets of iconic Broadway shows including Moulin Rouge, Anything Goes, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, as well as televised events like the Academy Awards, Hairspray Live! and The Wiz Live!.

"I've always liked Art Deco elevators, in particular the elevators at Rockefeller Center and the Empire State Building are so beautiful," he says. "Art deco designers had a sort of flair for making something out of everything. Everything was an opportunity, and they definitely thought that way about elevators."

And we're taking the experience to new heights because for the first time ever, viewers can take a ride on the InStyle elevator too. Fans will be able to create their own elevator entrance video using our new custom Instagram filter #InStyleElevator to be transported to the fabulous world of the Golden Globes.

Speaking of rising up, this year we've teamed with The Actors Fund, which assists those in all aspects of the arts in times of need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, performers, actors, and artists have been immensely affected by the worldwide lockdown, so this work is important now more than ever. You can donate here or swipe up on InStyle's Instagram stories throughout the night. Speaking of, make sure to keep an eye on our Instagram page for all the hilarious and creative elevator entrances from your favorite stars.
