Halle Berry, Jojo, and Michael B. Jordan Support Megan Thee Stallion After She Was Shot by Tory Lanez

This week, Megan Thee Stallion shared more details about her shooting incident with fellow rapper Tory Lanez. During an Instagram Live on Thursday, Megan revealed how she was reluctant to tell police the truth and withheld information to protect Lanez, after accusing him of lying about his involvement in her injuries.

Meg explained that Lanez is not in jail right now because she was afraid as a woman of color to "tell the law what happened as soon as it happened," and didn't want to get in more trouble. She added, "Ask [him] why he not sayin’ nothin. What the f—k he going to get on here and say? ‘Yeah, I shot her.’ Why? Tell ’em why you shot me. No reason. Stop f—ing lying on me. Stop f—ing acting like black women is the motherf—in’ problem.”

Following Meg's emotional message, celebrities rallied around her with powerful messages of support. Halle Berry tweeted, "Peace. Protection. Respect. For ALL Black Women. ALWAYS. @theestallion, we stand with you." She signed off, writing: "F**k this sh**. #ProtectBlackWomen."

Michael B. Jordan added, "Meg I admire your courage and applaud you for speaking up. We must Support Black Women, Protect Black Women, and Believe Black Women. @theestallion." Meanwhile, Jojo revealed that she removed Tory from her upcoming album. The pair collaborated on the song "Comeback," but the singer-songwriter set the record straight in response to a fan's tweet. "Def took him TF off," she wrote, adding that she's open to Meg taking Tory's place.

Last month, Meg tweeted about her recovery, and how as a black woman, she felt unprotected throughout the entire experience. "Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own," she wrote. "It might be funny to y’all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I’m real life hurt and traumatized."
