Not everyone was a fan.

UPDATE: On Sunday, August 9, Cardi B responded to the controversy over Kylie Jenner's cameo in the "WAP" music video. According to People, the rapper wrote in a since-deleted tweet that her husband Offset is friends with Travis Scott, who shares daughter Stormi, 2, with Jenner.

"Why did i put Kylie on my music video? she treated my sister and daughter so lovely at her kid bday party," she wrote. "Travis and Set are real close and Kris Jenner have giving me advice on certain things I ask for and her husband real cool with mine."

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s music video masterpiece, "WAP," dropped first thing Friday and it’s instantly iconic. Snakes! Formal bodysuits! A mansion with a Normani room!

As if the spectacle Cardi and Meg have blessed us with wasn’t enough, the video is packed with celebrity cameos, including a dance from the aforementioned houndstooth-clad Normani, a glimpse of Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía in a red latex jumpsuit, and brief turns from rappers Rubi Rose, Mulatto, and Sukihana.

Oh, and did we mention Kylie Jenner makes an appearance? The beauty mogul takes a slow stroll through the mansion’s main hall in a plunging leopard print bodysuit with a train, matching over-the-knee boots, and opera gloves.

Though, naturally, not everyone got behind Jenner’s inclusion in the video:

Cardi opened up about the casting decisions during a conversation on Apple Music’s New Music Daily, explaining, "I wanted a lot of different females, not just female rappers ... Y'all going to see it on the music video as well, from models to influencers and everything.”

“I'm like, 'These are the girls that I personally like. That I like they music,’” she said of the musicians who appear in the video, “That I really feel they are going to go mainstream, to me.”

So there you have it, at least one good thing has come out of 2020.
