Dolly Parton doesn’t need loads of people blowing up her cell phone, so naturally, she doesn’t even have one. During a recent appearance on The View, the country icon continued to solidify the fact that she is and always will be that girl by revealing that she’s still, in the year of 2023, only reachable by fax — and we couldn’t love her more for it.

“Actually, I don’t want to get into that world,” Parton told co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin when talking about the world of cell phones and social media. “I’m surrounded by enough people.”

Dolly then admitted that communicating without a phone isn’t a new development, explaining that it’s something her friends have teased her about for years. “Kenny Rogers used to aggravate me about it," she said of the late star. "I said, ‘Look, I’ll send you a message by carrier pigeon if I need to get in touch with you. You always seem to know how to reach me when you want something!'”

She added, “So I actually, I never did get into getting involved in all that because it’ll take up too much of my time if I tried to get in touch with everybody who is trying to get in touch with me. So I just say, ‘Fax me! Fax me or call me and I’ll call you back.’”

This isn’t the only time that Parton’s affinity for faxing has made headlines. In fact, Miley Cyrus previously joked about it back in May 2021 when talking about how she communicates with her godmother during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“Every time I coordinate and kind of communicate with Dolly, it's still through fax," Cyrus said. "We do use the phone, but she does a fax, and then someone scans the fax, and then they put it into a text message. And then that gets sent to me, and it's always signed.”
