Jennifer Lopez Swapped Her Signature Sky-High Heels for a Very Unlikely Shoe

Jennifer Lopez is rarely seen without her signature ankle-breaking platform heels. In addition to the red carpet and date nights with Ben Affleck, she'll wear stilettos for even the most mundane of activities (see: Lopez house-hunting in 7-inch heels). In other words: unless she's heading to the gym, J.Lo simply doesn't do flat shoes. 

However, her perspective on comfortable footwear seemingly shifted this week after she was spotted leaving lunch in Beverly Hills wearing a pair of black patent leather ballet flats. She teamed the classic shoe with an equally ladylike collared shirtdress with black buttons, a ruffled midi hemline, and a matching belt tied around her waist. Black oversized sunglasses, minimalist silver jewelry, and pink natural nails provided rounded out her look. The entire outfit was unfamiliar territory for J.Lo — save for the black crocodile Hermès Birkin bag that she slung on her arm.

Perhaps Affleck's low-key style has rubbed off on J.Lo, or maybe it's his unwavering support that has made her more confident to sartorially switch things up.

Earlier this month, Lopez explained that she has never felt "more beautiful" than she has with Ben during an interview with Vogue. “I’m finally at the point in my life where I love every part of myself unapologetically,” she said. “Every part of me, my body, my voice, my choices, even, like, my mistakes. All of it made me who I am and got me to where I am today. Ben wants me to understand my worth and know my value. I feel even more relaxed and comfortable, which makes me feel even more beautiful than I have ever felt with someone else.”
