What Did Kim Kardashian and Courteney Cox Talk About During This Basketball Game?

On Monday night, pop-cultural worlds collided when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were photographed sitting court side at an L.A. Lakers game next to none other than Friends alum Courteney Cox and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer.

Cox and Kardashian’s brand of celebrity couldn’t be more different. The former rose to fame in the ‘90s, before the dawn of social media and the crux of reality TV — back when you could cram six white people on a couch and have a hugely successful show. Though there are a few exceptions to the rule, Kardashian’s variety of stardom, the kind that allows fame outside the typical confines of show business (acting, singing, modeling) didn’t really exist until the late aughts. Without an obvious common ground between them, we couldn’t help but wonder what these two could possibly spend a basketball game talking about ... Our educated guesses are as follows:

David Schwimmer

Ah, six degrees of David Schwimmer. The actor, who played Cox’s character Monica’s brother Ross on Friends, also portrayed Kardashian’s late father Robert Kardashian in season 1 of Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. Kardashian has actually praised Schwimmer’s performance, calling it so “dead-on” that it was at times “eerie to watch.” So, how did that conversation go? We’re thinking something like this:

Cox: “So, David Schwimmer ... “
Kardashian: “Yes, he played my dad!”
Cox: “He played my brother!”

Kardashian will of course advocate for a “K,” Cox for a “C” but also a seemingly unnecessary “e.” They will both agree that “Courtney” traditionalists are in the wrong.

OK, so this isn’t actually the first time the unlikely pair has hung out together. Back in 2016, Cox, Cox’s daughter Coco Arquette, Kardashian, West, Kris Jenner, Corey Gamble, Kourtney Kardashian, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Isla Fisher had what appears to be a private (and potentially sponsored?) screening of Cohen’s film The Brothers Grimsby. They laughed so hard they cried.

Recently, Cox was told (via the comments section) that she looks like Kardashian’s former stepfather, Caitlyn Jenner. Maybe Kim cares to weigh in?
