While few can forget the drama that unfolded between Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle back in 2021 — when the former Good Morning Britain newscaster’s meanspirited comments towards the duchess led to his eventual resignation from the show — it seems that one notable royal was actually in support of the slander. According to Omid Scobie’s latest royal biography, Endgame (out Nov. 28), Queen Camilla reportedly thanked Morgan for calling her step-daughter-in-law “Princess Pinocchio” in a now-infamous Daily Mail column.

Per Scobie’s book, Camilla allegedly sent Morgan a message after the incident to thank him for “defending the Firm.” Although a palace aide informed the author that the queen would never publicly address the feud or “speak ill of others,” the source did note that Camilla felt “gratitude” that “somebody was standing up to Meghan’s claims.”

News of Camilla’s reported support comes over two years after Morgan first attacked Markle in response to her and Prince Harry’s bombshell Oprah interview. Following the interview’s release, in which Meghan spoke about experiencing suicidal thoughts due to issues with the royal family in 2020, Morgan tweeted that he “wouldn’t believe [Meghan] if she read me a weather report.”

Morgan eventually went on to leave GMB that same month after viewers and Markle complained about the coverage.

“I was reliably informed recently that Meghan Markle wrote directly to my ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall the night before I was forced out, demanding my head on a plate,” Piers wrote in response to his forced resignation in Sept. 2021. “What has the world come to when a whiny fork-tongued actress can dictate who presents a morning television news program.”

Neither Meghan Markle nor Queen Camilla have spoken about the matter since.
