Zendaya Shut Down Engagement Rumors After Fans Saw Her Huge Ring

"You think that's how I would drop the deuce?"

After Zendaya posted a blurry, casual selfie of herself wearing a ring on that finger, fans seemed to jump, leap, and sprint to conclusions and just assumed that Tom Holland had popped the question. In an effort to calm everyone down and bring us all back down to earth, Zendaya informed everyone that it was just a ring on her ring finger and not an engagement ring — sorry to anyone who was already hoping for a Spider-Man-themed ceremony.

"I can't post anything, you guys," Zendaya said in a video as her eyes rolled back. "I posted it for my hat … Like, not for the ring on my right finger, you guys. Seriously, you think that's how I would drop the deuce? Like, what?!"

After the internet did its thing, and everyone was already wondering what she'd wear to tie the knot and which of Holland's Marvel pals would be in attendance, Zendaya shut it all down (again). In an Instagram Story post, she showed everyone a clearer photo, writing, "Let me just put the full body back so y'all can relax lmao."

It was clear from the photo that the ring is a pearl ring and not a diamond one — though celebrities are known to go with unique picks for their statement-making engagement rings.

The couple sparked dating rumors way back in July 2021, but they didn't actually go public until months later. Since then, Zendaya (and Tom) have been open about wanting to keep their love life out of the headlines.

"Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible," Holland told The Hollywood Reporter. "We don't think that we owe it to anyone, it's our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers."

"Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public. I can't not be a person and live my life and love the person I love," Zendaya told Elle. "But also, I do have control over what I choose to share."
