With the first part of her Las Vegas residency in the rear-view, Adele has plenty of time to focus on being a mom — and in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, it's where the superstar singer says she wants to be. Adele is set to receive the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award THR's annual Women in Entertainment event on Dec. 7, but if her candid sit-down with the venerated industry publication is an indication, she'd rather be with her son Angelo and, surprisingly, his classmates.

"I get nervous around loads of adults and strangers that I don’t know," she told THR, adding that she loves doing things like prepping food for the kids at her son's school and that as a mother, she really feels like she's "thriving."

"I’m thriving a bit. Now there are so many things his school does the most, with community vibes, which is fantastic. The kids don’t care. The kids don’t give a flying fuck who I am," she said. "So making food for school events, it’s my dream."

What, exactly, is Grammy-, Emmy-, and Oscar-winning Adele cooking up? Kebabs. And not just a few, she said that she once had to make 60 for an event.

"It went great. I spilled the turmeric everywhere, so it stained my whole kitchen. I made 60 of them," she explained after she had mentioned the task at one of her Vegas shows.

She also said that she loved having a community at the school and being able to make friends with the other moms.

"They’re not famous and they’re great," she added. "And having a kid at school, I’ve got great mum friends."

Elsewhere in the interview, the singer noted that only one surprise guest made her super-nervous during her Sin City residency. The show has drawn its fair share of celeb guests, but one of Adele's fellow Vegas stars made her "shat" herself with nervous energy.

"I remember one of my first shows I did, Shania Twain came. Because she had a hat on, I walked straight past her and didn’t recognize her until afterwards someone sent me a video. Then, I saw her at the Grammys and we were talking about it," Adele explained. "I’ve had lots of amazing people there. There’s been one there that I shat myself the whole show. Gaga. And I’ve spent a bit of time with her, but I rate her so hard. I was like, 'The show’s terrible. It’s rubbish. I’m singing terribly. I’m not funny. My dress is rubbish this week.' I was judging myself. And she’s not like that. But she made me really, really nervous."

And for fans waiting for new material from her, Adele offered an update on that, too. Sadly, she's focusing on the Vegas show — which has been extended through June 2024. So, a new album will have to wait until after that.

"I get nervous about wearing my voice out [at the residency]. It’s a lot of singing. It’s two hours. It’s all live. It’s a lot. And I fucking motormouth and chat me ass off, as well," she said. "I have nothing to say yet. I haven’t even thought about it."
