The queen has arrived at the 2024 Golden Globes. Angela Bassett, who is at this year's ceremony as a presenter, graced the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and stole the spotlight in a black off-the-shoulder gown from Dolce & Gabbana.

The gown's silhouette, which featured long sleeves and a bustier bodice that flowed into a long skirt with a modest train, was simple but stood out thanks to its luxurious velvet fabric. She carried a silver sparkly clutch and accessorized with Lagos jewels — including a pair of gold earrings with red beaded fringe that matched her lipstick.

Bassett styled her hair in Old Hollywood curls with a sweeping side part and finished off her glam with long lashes and peach-tinted blush.

This year's ceremony comes after the Globes made headlines in 2022 when the Los Angeles Times reported that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had no Black members and that the organization "engaged in unethical conduct and suspicious financial practices." After a subdued ceremony and apologies, last year the show returned, and is back this year under new leadership and a new broadcast partner in CBS.

"We adopted a new set of policies, eliminated a lot of the conflicts that we had," HFPA president Helen Hoehne told NPR in 2023. "We implemented a new grievance procedure with a confidential reporting hotline."

Bassett has two Golden Globes to her name. She won her first, the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, in 1994 for What's Love Got to Do With It. Last year, she took home the trophy for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture — and made history for Marvel Studios by taking home the very first acting award for its superhero epics — thanks to her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

During her acceptance speech, she thanked her Marvel and Disney family, including Black Panther director Ryan Coogler and Marvel Studios’s Kevin Feige, before taking a moment to commemorate her time with the late Chadwick Boseman.

“We loved and we healed and we were surrounded each and every day by the light and the spirit of Chadwick Boseman, and we have joy in knowing that with this historic Black Panther series, it is part of his legacy that he helped to lead us to,” she said. "And to the Marvel fans, thank you for embracing these characters and showing us so much love. We just made history with this nomination and with this award. It belongs to all of you, all of us."
