Everything To Know About Emily Blunt and John Krasinski's Relationship

Their second film together premieres this year.

While they usually stay out of the headlines, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski do make the news for all the right reasons. Not only have they worked together, but their low-key relationship is also one of Hollywood's real-life fairy tales — only without most of the over-the-top Hollywood part. Here's everything you need to know about the two, from their shooting-range first date (no joke) to A Quiet Place 2 and all the babies, gushing interviews, and red carpets between.

During a 2011 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Krasinski recalled the day that he met Blunt. It was love at first sight, he said — really.

"It was one of those things where I wasn't really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I'm going to take my time in L.A.," he said. "Then, I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, 'Oh god, I think I'm going to fall in love with her.' As I shook her hand, I went, 'I like you.'"

In 2018, Blunt said that her reaction wasn't all that different.

"We were discussing how much I was enjoying being single. And then [my friend] goes, 'Oh, my God, there's my friend John.' And that was it," she told People.

Their first date happened at a shooting range.

"On our first date, I decided, 'I'm gonna really hit the gas and bring her to a gun range,'" Krasinsky told Conan O'Brien back in 2012. "I think that I was so sure that I would never end up with her ... that I was like, 'You know what, I'm gonna blow it right away and then that way you don't feel bad.'"

August 2009

Blunt and Krasinski got engaged less than a year after they met. It went down in Los Angeles.

"She did cry after I cried and we cried and then everyone around us was crying," Krasinski told Access Hollywood of the exact moment he asked her. "Then, I think people weren't really sure what was going on, but they were crying because we were crying. But it was great. At the end of the day, she said yes, which is great. It's a big part of this whole thing."

The setting: Como, Italy. The guests: George Clooney, among others. The dress: Marchesa. The wedding was small, private, and low-key (other than the custom-made dress, the Clooney-adjacent venue, and the A-list guests).

"It was an outdoor ceremony and absolutely beautiful," an insider told Us Weekly.

It may sound like a fairy tale, but Blunt said there was a major hiccup.

"I got a bad spray tan and I would probably change that," Blunt told James Corden on The Late Late Show. "I look at the pictures and it just has an orange hue that is unnatural to normal skin color. Why was I on a budget on my wedding day? It was a bit patchy. It stinks! And it was a very hot day, so if you sweat and you have a spray tan — wearing white. Just seeping orange. It was terrible."

April 2013

Blunt opened up about her marriage to Krasinski, saying that it "changed" her.

"Meeting John really changed my life," she told InStyle. "When I feel the support that I have from him, I feel invincible. There's someone behind you on your good days and someone in front of you on your bad days."

The two attend the Met Gala together. It's the only time they'd attend together, though Blunt would go on to attend solo in 2015, 2016 and 2019.

On the occasion of their 10-year anniversary, Blunt told People that she's grateful for her husband's support during the COVID-19 pandemic and its lockdown orders.

"Having John's support is everything because we are each other's confidant. That shared understanding has really been a very vital anchor for me," she said. "Being around little ones during the pandemic was such a saving grace because they would just be bouncing around the house, and your job is to protect them from what is happening and make sure their life remains joyful. That was a pretty great lifeline for John and me during the pandemic, for sure."
