I Budgeted to Spend $300 at Nordstrom, and I'm Buying These 7 Under-$50 Fashion Finds

I’ve cut back on shopping quite a bit over the last month because my wallet is still recovering from holiday gifting. But being a fashion girlie through and through, I just can’t resist a good deal. I recently stumbled across this under-$50 sale curation from my favorite store, aka Nordstrom, and decided to see how much I could get for $300 — not a penny more. Below, I rounded up seven pieces from Skims, Topshop, Blanknyc, and others up to 50 percent off, and my total was (drum roll, please) $286.

As a former sweater designer, I’m extremely particular about the sweaters I purchase. I look for three things when shopping for new sweaters: The yarn needs to be soft and warm and the silhouette should be unique. This Cable-Stitch Fringe Turtleneck Sweater checks all of those boxes. It comes in a marled purple and pink yarn and is available in sizes XS through XL. The fit is cropped and the yarn is super soft with lots of stretch. The foldover turtleneck is slouchy and ribbed, as are the finishings at the cuffs and hem. The sweater also has two cable-knit stitches at the front and fringe on both sides for added visual interest.

Open Edit Rib Half-Zip Sweater

My uniform for the last couple of months has been a white tee, jeans, and a half-zip sweater. I’ve worn the top so much that the zipper fell off and there’s a rip at the hem. So when I came across this Bias-Cut Satin Maxi Skirt from Topshop, I knew I had to add it to my collection of maxi styles. The slip skirt comes in eight colors, including black, gray, brown, blue, and red, plus sizes 0 through 14. It has a sleek, satin finish, elastic waistband for easy on and off, and a straight silhouette that falls below the ankle without dragging, depending on your height. But what sold me on this skirt was its chic bias cut that effortlessly hugs your curves.
