Kate Beckinsale Brought the Drama in a Gigantic Floor-Sweeping Veiled Hat

The only thing better? Her plunging gold bodysuit.

Between Playboy Bunny parties and Bratz-doll-inspired birthday looks, it’s safe to say that Kate Beckinsale has yet to meet a themed event she hasn’t liked — and her latest outing (and its coordinating look) was no exception.

On Thursday night, the actress attended the Zodiac Ball in Los Angeles in a dramatic ensemble that fully understood the evening’s “celestial surrealism” assignment. Immediately turning heads upon arrival, Beckinsale walked the black carpet in a gigantic taupe-colored wide-brimmed hat that featured an equally large floor-sweeping tulle veil, both by Tony Ward Couture. While the moss-covered veil fully surrounded Kate’s body, its sheer design allowed fans to also get a glimpse of her outfit underneath: a matching sequin-covered bodysuit that featured a plunging U-shaped cutout and a strapless neckline.

Ankle-breaking gold platform heels completed the star’s look, and a pair of glamorous glitzy drop earrings served as her only accessory. As for glam, Beckinsale wore her honey-blonde hair down in voluminous waves, and she kept her makeup fun with a shimmering smoky eye and a glossy pink lip.

Although Kate certainly looked good during the outing, her appearance came just days after she revealed that she hasn’t been feeling as great due to the “constant” bullying she endures on Instagram.

“So — those of you who have been following my stories the last couple of days have definitely had a little insight into the fairly constant fuckwittery and bullying that I can receive pretty regularly on this app,” she captioned a throwback clip from an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “What I want to say is first of all, I have been overwhelmed by the number of supportive and incredible messages I have received from kind strangers that outnumber and outweigh the arseholes by two million percent.”

Beckinsale then went on to detail one notable positive experience she’s had because of social media before finishing her message by adding, “She and you are why I stay on here and why I feel people are ultimately good and the chance to connect with strangers can be such an incredible gift. Unless you are a farty twatty man who thinks women should stay in the kitchen or some other irritant in which case it’s a gift in the sense of a poo wrapped in some sweating cling film. Love you, you the good ones, you the achoo-ing ones xxx"
