Meghan Markle Wore the Most Dramatic Cape With Audrey Hepburn-Approved Ankle Pants

Whoever said you have to wait until Halloween to break out your cape collection clearly hasn’t met Meghan Markle. On Friday, the former actress made the outerwear work in a very low-key way during a surprise appearance at Kevin Costner’s One805 fundraiser alongside her husband Prince Harry — and what the look lacked in theatrics, it very much made up for in style.

During the outing, which took place at Cosner’s Santa Barbara beach house, Markle sported an oversized black-and-white herringbone Carolina Herrera poncho cape complete with a slouchy turtleneck, black piping, and billowy cropped sleeves. She styled the cozy layer with a pair of black ankle pants and strappy black heels accessorized with all-gold details of a gold watch, gold earrings, and a gold bracelet. Meghan pulled her hair into a slicked-back bun with a middle part to complement the cape’s high neckline, and she rounded out her glam by adding feathered lashes, bold brows, and a matte pink lip.

For his part, Harry kept his outfit equally muted by donning black-on-black (... on black) everything with a dark blazer, button-up, and jeans. 

The pair’s joint outing comes hot on the heels of their multi-week stay in Düsseldorf, Germany, where they just finished hosting the 2023 Invictus Games. While Meghan wore no shortage of stellar outfits throughout her time at the Games, she reached for Carolina Herrera yet again when attending the sitting volleyball finals at the Merkur Spiel-Arena.

For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex traded her cozy fall garb for an easy, breezy denim midi dress that featured a collared neckline, button-up design, and waist-cinching tie belt. She finished the look by wearing her hair in a loose low bun, and she added simple black heels and dainty jewelry.
