Kim Kardashian Says Her Daughter Would Be a Better President Than Donald Trump

Despite her prominence in the realm of pop culture, Kim Kardashian West says when it comes to real-world issues she sometimes wishes more people would listen to her voice.

Kardashian West channels Cher (a fellow superstar of Armenian descent) for the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia. The nostalgic nature of the photo shoot, however, does little to predict the content of Kardashian West’s cover story.

The reality TV star, 36, opened up to the publication about the issues affecting her today, such as the pressures of parenting in the public eye and the current political climate.

“I want to have something on my own,” Kardashian West says about her decision to pursue a career whilst raising two small children. “I feel good when I get up and go to work and am busy all day. That makes me happy,” she explains. “If I just, like, retire I would definitely be more of a stay at home mom, but I want my kids to have a really strong work ethic and see how motivated mom and dad really are.”

“Sometimes I feel like I want to speak out more about political issues,” Kim tells the magazine. “You have to be really careful about what you say, because a lot of things can be taken in the wrong context and I always want to be respectful, I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

That being said, she’s not particularly concerned with hurting the feelings of America’s current leader, Donald Trump. “Anyone can run the U.S. better,” Kim says. “My daughter would be better.”

Her comments shed light on an interesting dynamic in the family: After all, her husband (and 4-year-old North West's father) Kanye West famously announced his plan for a 2020 run for president at the 2015 VMAs and said last November that he did not vote—but if he had he would have voted for Trump.

“We’ve worked so hard to get to where we were and to have so many things that we were so proud of in our country, to just literally revert backwards is the most frustrating thing,” Kim goes on to say. “Every single day when you can’t really believe what’s going on, the next day it’s something else even more crazy and tragic. It’s really scary, the world that we’re living in now. And when you did feel safe at home, now with Trump in presidency you just don’t feel safe any more.”

In fact, the reigning social media queen claims she doesn’t even follow the president’s bombastic Twitter account. “I follow Obama though,” she notes.
