Yesterday, Penélope Cruz made an appearance at Variety's Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch brunch in Palm Springs to promote her new project Ferrari. Though, if you told us that she was actually there to announce that she's starring in a remake of the 1995 cult film Clueless, we'd be none the wiser.

Why? Because, the actress arrived to the event in outfit that was undeniably inspired by the movie's main character, Cher Horowitz. For the occasion, Cruz wore a pink-and-black plaid miniskirt with an asymmetrical hem and a matching blazer on top (both from Chanel's spring-summer 2024 collection). Adding to the overall '90s vibe of her outfit, she added a black tube top underneath her jacket, as well as black Mary Jane peep-toe heels similar to Cher's white pair — minus the knee-high socks.

Penélope carried a black quilted Chanel purse on her shoulder, and finished off her preppy look with diamond hoop earrings, a smattering of rings, and a swipe of pink lipgloss.

During the award ceremony, Cruz was honored with the Variety Creative Impact in Acting Award for her role as Laura Ferrari in the new biopic. In her speech, she thanked Ferrari's director Michael Mann for casting her in the film. "[She] represents so many women out there, not only in the period of Ferrari, but in so many places around the world then and today with women living in the shadows of men, constantly being ignored and suppressed," Penélope said of her character.

As for Mann himself, she continued, “I was scared of Michael Mann, because I really admired everything he has done, and I heard stories, so I was terrified. He is tough, but I discovered also a deep, romantic, gentle man.”
