Prince William is touching down in New York City — but Kate Middleton won't be joining in her husband this time. People reports that the Prince of Wales has a quick trip planned, which includes the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit on Tuesday and several appointments today. And while Kate did join William for a trip to Boston earlier this year, this time around, she's staying home with the kids.

"It's a massive balancing act," a royal insider previously told the publication of the Cambridges' approach to parenting, which includes dropping the children off at school as much as possible and ensuring that either Kate or William (or both!) is at home in the evenings when they're wrapped up with their studies. They're also focused on making sure Prince George, the future King of England, has a normal upbringing. "William and Kate are doing the right thing, protecting him so he can have as normal a childhood as possible, but he's also dipping into duties as a future monarch."

William's appearances in New York are all in preparation to this year's Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, which will take place in Singapore on Nov. 7. People adds that William established the Earthshot Prize in 2020 to "promote impactful approaches to pressing environmental challenges" and plans to keep the program going until at least 2030.

Today, Kate made an appearance at the Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton. The visit had a special meaning to Kate, who was recently named Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm by King Charles II. Prince Andrew held the role until 2022.

And the Cambridges aren't the only ones keeping busy. Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will be in France from Sept. 20 to 22 for a state visit.
