A week later, Black Friday and Cyber Monday feel like one big fever dream. While many people were out hitting the mall or surfing the internet for the best deals, I was rounding them up for our readers. While I do miss participating in the hustle and bustle of in-person shopping, the best part of my job is already knowing prices ahead of the savings extravaganza and planning accordingly. Once I wrap up work, I already know exactly what I want and can go right to checkout.

So, while I was writing a round-up on the best Cyber Monday shoe deals, I took note that Rothy’s, the viral flats brand Meghan Markle’s been spotted wearing, was running a sale. I’d been dying to get my hands on its comfy ballet flats and took advantage of the discount to finally buy a pair. After first impressions, I can now say that I’m a fan of the comfy shoe brand and they’re absolutely worth the hype.

The bow-front ballet flats come in eight colors and prints, including pink, red, black, metallic and cheetah. They feature a rounded toe box, heel-to-toe insole cushion, and a rubber outsole for added comfort and traction. A stretchy knit upper is crafted from 10 plastic bottles, making this pair both comfortable and conscious.

There are a few reasons why I reached for these flats during the sales weekend — one is the brand’s sustainable approach. When I enthusiastically ran to the mail room to pick up these flats, I noticed that it wasn’t wastefully packaged in a box inside of a box  the way most shoe brands package their shoes. Instead, the mailer doubled as the shoe box. I also love that the shoes are made from spun plastic water bottles. You would think that this would mean the outer shell is itchy or irritating, but it’s the complete opposite — the fabric effortlessly stretches around the foot and doesn’t make the toes feel squished.

The insole is a dream to walk on; it literally feels like walking on pillows. And unlike some of my other flats, these actually have great grip on slick surfaces. I was able to wear them around town for over nine hours straight without breaking them in and had no discomfort or blisters. The back of the shoe doesn’t dig into your achilles, and they’re super flexible so they move with your feet. They’re also machine washable to easily get rid of dirt and debris, extending the life of the shoe.

I’ve dressed them up with tights, a mini sweater dress, and a leather bomer, but also dressed them more casually with a pair of mom jeans and an oversized sweater. Rothy’s the Ballet Flats have officially made me a stan — now I need every color so I can coordinate them with my outfits. I even have my eye on a pair of the Square Mary Janes, complete with a stretchy top strap and subtle square toe.
