Welcome to the New & Next Issue! As InStyle’s very brand new Editor in Chief, there couldn’t be a more fitting theme or cover star for me to dive in with than Quinta Brunson, the creative mastermind behind award season-favorite Abbott Elementary. She’s the true definition of a multi-hyphenate and is entering a new chapter herself, one that embraces fashion as a way of expressing who she is and what she has to say — though she’d call it an evolution if you asked her. “I think that as my life changes, career changes, [and] work changes, the reinventions are necessary,” she tells writer Cori Murray in our cover story. “I like to look at it more as evolution and moving with the waves of time.”
But it’s Brunson’s perspective on choosing what she wears that resonates most with me: It’s exactly why I think fashion is so exciting — and powerful. “It’s not about pulling it off,” Brunson explains. “It’s about what I want to represent when I come to certain award shows or certain events I have to do. I’m not just an actress, not just a writer, not just a producer, not just a showrunner. I want to make sure I can convey who I am through what I wear.” I personally can’t wait to watch Brunson continue to tell us her story through style as she blows up Hollywood — and all those red carpets.
So I’d like to formally invite you to explore our new digital issue (a special thank you to our partners Citizen and Sephora for powering these stories), and I am so excited to show you what’s next!
Silver Is the New Gold
This summer is all about statement silver. After years of yellow-gold domination, Gilded Age maximalism is taking a back seat to sleek modernism with silver pieces turning up on runways, celebs, and It girls everywhere. And the more sculptural, the better when it comes to this trend. From the chrome drip we spotted at the Chanel and Paco Rabanne shows last fall to Dua Lipa’s futuristic hoops, the silver look adds a touch of cool to any outfit. And with options that range from edgy to classic, it might just be time to diversify your jewelry box.
