I Took a Chance on This Amazon Sweater Set, and Now I'll Be Wearing It All Winter

Amazon has been my go-to for affordable, cute finds such as my beloved tennis necklace and two-piece runaround set. While I love shopping for seasonal items like cozy boots and floral tops on the site, I think where it shines most is in its dress selection. Amazon has dresses to suit every occasion and body type, from cozy sweater styles to fun and frilly party-ready options.

Take, for example, my latest find: The Anrabess Ribbed Knit Top and Midi Dress Set. As a woman in her late thirties, there is absolutely nothing that appeals to me about the words “crop top” and “bodycon midi dress” (which are all included in the long-winded product name on the site), yet somehow I was intrigued by this pairing and purchased it on a whim. 

Much to my surprise, I’ve been delighted by the two-piece set. It consists of two detached pieces, a long-sleeve crew neck cropped top and a ribbed tank midi dress. It comes in 10 colors, including black, blue, red, and brown, and is available in sizes S to XL. 

The first surprise came via the fabric. As an Amazon shopper, I’m careful to read product descriptions. It was listed as 100 percent viscose, which I thought meant it would be kind of flimsy. I was wrong. The material is sturdy and thick without being heavy, and it has nice detailing such as shoulder seams on the crop top. The dress has a flattering scoop neck that falls right at my knees (I’m 5-foot-8). 

The second surprise was how much I loved the two pieces. Styled together, they make a chic set for winter and colder spring months. What I love most, though, is that I can break them up. The top looks great layered with a button-down and trousers, for example, or even when simply thrown on over a workout top. The dress can layer over a thin turtleneck in winter or under a blazer in transitional months, or be worn on its own into warmer spring months. 

Other shoppers are just as enamored with the set as I am. One reviewer said that they loved to wear it “together or to mix and match with other fits” and that it’s “very forgiving to bumps, rolls and bellies.” (They even noted they were able to wear it without shapewear, a huge win for anything body-hugging.) Another shopper, who identified as 62-years-old, wasn’t sure if it would look good on them but found it to be “gorgeous and comfortable.” And finally, a third person called it “chic and stylish,” saying that “the dress is great quality” and made from a “soft but substantial knit” with “great stretch recovery.”
