This French Body Cream Is So Softening, I'm Scraping the Jar Clean for the Very Last Drop

Growing up, my parents made sure to instill in me that you don’t leave the house without slathering your skin with lotion first. It would be a sin to come home with ash on any part of my body. Those principles have since followed me into adulthood and I take my body creams and lotions very seriously. I usually stick to my tried and true body lotions during the winter months since my skin needs extra attention, but I was recently given the opportunity to try out Avène’s Moisturizing Melt-In Balm — and I can’t get enough of how supple and smooth my dry patchy skin feels. 

The luxe French body cream has a thick, whipped texture that’s formulated with their signature spring water, shea oil, safflower oil, and camelina oil. The thermal water soothes irritated skin, while the shea oil moisturizes. The safflower oil acts as an antioxidant-rich occlusive that fades scarring and the camelina oil is an anti-inflammatory that keeps skin baby soft and hydrated. All four ingredients work together to provide 24 hours of hydration without leaving the skin feeling greasy.

My winter hydration routine starts in the shower with a moisturizing body wash and the skin-softening Gentle Body Scrub. After the shower, I massage the body butter onto slightly damp skin to seal in moisture effectively. Its non-greasy formula leaves my skin feeling supple and smooth. It absorbs down quickly into the skin, so I’m able to dress immediately without the worry about transferring product to my clothes or bedding. And I can confirm that my skin is ash-free for a full 24 hours without the need for reapplication.

It’s become such a treat in my routine to apply this body balm and it’s done a number on my scaly keratosis pilaris. Not only does it leave my skin feeling baby-soft and radiant, but its fresh scent isn’t overwhelming and makes for a great base under my fragrances. I’ve even found my boyfriend dipping his hands into it after he showers, and he’s even been impressed with the immediate results on his rough and patchy skin.
