I’ve debated whether to share my unsexy body care woes, but here we go: The skin on my feet is perpetually crusty — the texture is, ironically, akin to that of a pumice stone. In the same vein, scaly patches have sprouted on my shins, and my cracked, withered hands suggest I’ve yet to discover the concept of lotion. I’m hardly alone — rough, bumpy, or scratchy body skin is common, and attributable to myriad causes. Though reasons for roughness abound, there exists a single head-to-toe solution: CeraVe’s SA Cream.

CeraVe’s SA Cream is simultaneously a skin-slougher and moisturizer, its benefits delivered via one rich, fragrance-free body lotion. The formula, which is on sale at Amazon for a limited time, boasts more than 20,000 five-star ratings — many from shoppers whose formerly flaky skin has all but transformed thanks to the $21 cream.

The CeraVe SA Cream is a rich body lotion that leaves even the roughest skin significantly smoother, per shoppers. The formula is packed with dermatologist-approved chemical exfoliators, which slough dead, skin-dulling cells from the surface to reveal smoother skin below. Despite its multi-acid formula, the fragrance-free cream is gentle nevertheless.

As its name implies, the CeraVe SA Cream relies primarily on salicylic acid (SA) — an oil-soluble exfoliant and member of the beta hydroxy acid family. Ergo, the ingredient can cut through excess sebum and pore-clogging debris. Salicylic acid is often a go-to for dermatologists, particularly for treating keratosis pilaris — a condition known for imparting a rough, bumpy feel, often on the arms and legs.

Another hero ingredient: Lactic acid. The alpha hydroxy acid is known for its relative gentleness and suitability for sensitive skin types. It’s perfect for dry complexions, too, as “[it] can hydrate your skin,” cosmetic chemist Michelle Wong previously told InStyle.

On the topic of hydration, the cream contains hyaluronic acid, a humectant hailed for attracting and retaining moisture. As with all CeraVe concoctions, the cream champions ceramides — lipids that strengthen the all-important skin barrier — and in turn prevent moisture loss (aka transepidermal water loss).

One reviewer, who struggles with ingrown hairs and keratosis pilaris, said their “bumps are gone” and their skin is now “smooth” thanks to CeraVe’s cream. Similarly, another fan, whose “little bumps” rendered skin “rough,” said CeraVe’s cream restored softness and smoothness in about a month. Yet another reviewer, whose feet were “a disaster” prior to trying the lotion, wrote that their skin feels “softer, and [is] free of dead rough skin.” Finally, a shopper who had struggled with “extremely dry” legs, riddled with patches of “scaly, cracked” skin, claimed CereVe delivered hydrating relief “immediately.” The shopper even said CeraVe “completely cured” their “lizard legs,” and they now have “smooth and supple” skin as a result.

To transform skin from rough and flaky to smooth and silky, snap up the CeraVe SA Cream at Amazon, where it’s $21 for a limited time.
