Kate Middleton has never been one to mess around with a Very Good Coat (see: her collection of classic peacoats and shearling statement jackets), and she continued her streak by stepping out in the perfect transitional jacket for late autumn months.

After a spending fall break with their children, the Prince and Princess of Wales are back to work, visiting organizations dedicated to the mental health of young people in Scotland. For the outing, she sported the ultimate jacket for that unpredictable weather: a hunter-green quilted Burberry jacket, complete with the brand's signature plaid print and a black corduroy collar. She layered the posh outerwear staple over a navy blue turtleneck and teamed it with black kick-flare jeans by Mother Denim and a pair of chocolate brown leather Chelsea boots by Reiss. She completed the look with the sentimental red poppy pin, a special tradition carried out by the royals during the month of November.

Beauty-wise, the Princess wore her brunette hair in voluminous curls and face-framing bangs and opted for her signature light and simple makeup look that included rosy cheeks and a pink lip.

As for Prince William’s part, he coordinated with his wife, donning a similarly hued forest green jacket adorned with the matching pin. Dark blue trousers and brown leather boots rounded out his look.

The royal couple's outing comes just a day after Kate paid a visit to the "Dadvengers," a group of fathers in Arnos Grove, London. For the event, she wore a head-to-toe French girl outfit that included a white-and-navy striped marinière-style sweater and straight-leg jeans by Mother Denim. A khaki jacket and the same lug-soled boots from today topped off her easy, classic 'fit.
