Anne Hathaway Schooled Us on Seasonal Dressing in the Comfiest Coat

She’s chic. She’s elegant. She’s a modern-day muse. She’s Anne Hathaway. Since The Princess Diaries, the actress has enthralled me with her effortless style. In fact, just yesterday, she gave us a lesson on dressing for the season, wearing the easiest coat there ever was.

Hathaway was spotted in New York City in a totally chic robe coat from Toteme. The $1,300 jacket featured a warm, camel hue and was designed in a cozy wool and cashmere blend that’s so luxe, too. But the oversized shawl collar is what really captured my attention. It cascaded off of her shoulders, creating a draped effect, while the XXL sleeves and long silhouette added dimension to the overall look.

I’m not just in love with Hathaway’s coat because of its posh allure, but also because of its super comfy nature. Robe coats aren’t tight or restricting, allowing you to bundle up in pure snuggly bliss. They’re also uncomplicated, making them one of my favorite style tricks for looking put together when, in reality, I just threw one on over my leggings and called it a day. So, despite their elevated appearance, robe coats are so comfortable, easy to wear, and painless to style. For an upscale look, pair yours with pointed-toe heels, trousers, and a chunky black belt. Or, go the casual route by reaching for sneakers and jeans. A pro tip? Consider less bulky pieces to offset the flowy nature of the top layer.

Hathaway decided to style hers with an ivory button-up shirt and super sexy Isabel Marant boots, which look as if they were stolen from Amal Clooney’s closet. She topped off the look with Krewe aviator shades and, my personal favorite, a Hermès Birkin bag that can cost up to $25,720 on resale. And, it’s only fitting she included a little pony charm from the brand, too.
