Cher Just Wore the Most Cher-ified Jeans I've Ever Seen

Minimalism might not be as in as it once was, but that also doesn’t mean you need to do a full overhaul in the name of maximalism. In fact, I recommend finding a middle ground — keep your basics, but add in some eye-catching pieces — and Cher just gave us a lesson in how to do just that.

While the singer is known for her instantly-iconic looks, she opted for something more “low-key” though still glam for a pre-Grammys party. She kept things relatively simple up top, with a black, long-sleeve top that featured a classic, sexy cold shoulder. On the bottom, she went bold, Cher-ifying a pair of baggy jeans.

I had never considered jeans to be glamorous until I saw these; the oversized, faded black style was adorned with a number of dazzling crystals that sparkled from every angle. The jewels were small and heavily concentrated on the pockets, becoming larger and more spaced out as you moved to the hem, almost giving the illusion of rain droplets. With her simple black belt and classic top, this was a masterclass in pairing an over-the-top piece (ahem, those jeans) with a simple wardrobe staple.

Sequins, glitter, and jewels have quickly become one of winter’s go-to trends, from shimmering, party-ready mini dresses to Swarovski-covered shapewear. Like I said, we’re in an era of maximalism. But Cher’s crystal-embellished jeans are probably my favorite take on the trend, so much so I’m convinced I need my own pair.
