I woke up this morning feeling very meh. Despite being a dreary, sunless day, it snowed in NYC (which is beautiful and amazing and magical and all!), and I just didn't feel like dealing with the trudge into the office. So my mood took a dive — that is until I saw Rihanna’s highlighter look which sparked some major joy.

The singer, who never fails to wear a show-stopping, head-turning look, did it again when she arrived at dinner in Santa Monica looking bedroom-chic. Hear me out — the contrasting outfit is one you should commit to memory, especially with Valentine’s Day coming up. Rihanna opted for straight-up lingerie, and she had me question whether I’m limiting myself by wearing my “sexy” attire for only special occasions. This was a casual dinner out and the singer felt it to be totally, entirely, 100 percent appropriate to rock said lingerie. Honestly, you go girl! Who says there should be any limit to where and when you can wear your lacey teddy? The limit does not exist.

Rihanna’s hot pink teddy featured a romantic, all-over lace design, boning at the bustier, and an almost corset-like front that was the perfect juxtaposition to her non-sexy, oversized jeans that were about as big and baggy as it gets. Aside from her lewk proving lingerie as outerwear is still very much a thing, it also showed that the XXL denim trend of 2023 is also making its mark in 2024. It makes sense, though, given the sheer comfort and coolness the pants exude. Plus, they make a statement without being overly, well, out-there or jaw-dropping.

Rihanna kept the dressed-up theme going with sky-high silver heels, a seasonally appropriate shearling leather coat, and a baseball cap — the hat trend that just won’t quit (good!). But nevertheless, the winning pieces were that pink lace teddy and those big, baggy jeans.
